Olympiques’ Jean-Gabriel Pageau Named CHL Player of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Jean-Gabriel Pageau of the Gatineau Olympiques is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending April 17 after scoring 12 points in five games including five goals and seven assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-9.

Trailing 2-0 to the Drummondville Voltigeurs in their second round series, Pageau led the Olympiques to four straight victories to win the series in six games advancing to the Semi-Finals of the QMJHL Playoffs. Pageau recorded two assists on Tuesday in a 4-1 win in Game three before producing a career-high five-point game with two goals and three assists as first star of a 6-1 win last Wednesday in Game four. He scored the game-winning goal in the final two contests including Friday night where he added an assist as third star of a 5-1 win in Game five, and on Sunday in the series finale where he netted two plus an assist as third star of a 6-3 win.

Pageau, an 18-year-old from Ottawa, ON, is playing in his second QMJHL season with the Olympiques and is ranked third in playoff scoring with 19 points in 11 games after recording 79 points in 67 regular season games this season.

Darren Archibald of the Niagara IceDogs was also considered for the award after scoring four goals and two assists for six points in three games. In the WHL, Brayden McNabb scored once and added five assists for six points in two games.
