TERRIERS WIN IN TRIPLE OT

Press Release

Jeremy Johnson scored 1:10 into triple overtime and the Yorkton Terriers won Game Five 2-1 in Humboldt on Saturday night, grabbing a 3-2 lead in the Canalta Cup Final, heading home for Game 6 on Sunday.

Tyler Giebel took the initial shot and it bounced off Johnson and in.

"We got a bounce there and that's usually how it happens in overtime, you've gotta throw pucks on net and see what happens," explained Terrier Coach Trent Cassan on GX94 Radio's post game show.

The Broncos out-shot the Terriers 16-8 in the first period, as Matt Audette put them infront 1-0 after 20.  Giebel would tie it in the second period, and the Terriers out-shot Humboldt 27-13 in the rest of regulation, before the Broncos grabbed a 21-15 edge in shots through overtime.

Shots were dead-even at 50-50.  Dawson MacAuley made 49 saves in the win, Matt Hrynkiw stopped 48 at the other end.

"Amazing, both of them," said Cassan.  Obviously I'm thrilled that we won but it's unfortunate that someone had to lose.  Neither team showed too much fatigue in overtime, we both got up and down the ice pretty quick."

Cassan says his team has to come off their emotional high in a hurry and get set for Game 6 in less than 24 hours.

"Nothing's been won here.  Every game's been tight, nothing's come easy, and getting that fourth one will be the toughest."

Game 6 is a 7:30 start Sunday night at Farrell Agencies Arena in Yorkton.
