Colts’ Bryan Cameron Named Boston Pizza OHL Player of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League today announced that forward Bryan Cameron of the Barrie Colts is the Boston Pizza OHL Player of the Week for the week ending March 21. Through the first week of the 2010 OHL Playoffs, Cameron led the league in scoring with eight points in three games including five goals and three assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-2.

Cameron had his best game of the season Sunday night with five points to lead the Colts to a 6-2 win over the Sudbury Wolves in Game Three of their first round playoff matchup. He scored three goals and added two assists as first star of the contest to give the Colts a commanding 3-0 series lead. Cameron also recorded a goal and an assist Thursday night in the 11-4 Game One victory, and scored the game-winner Saturday night as third star of the 2-1 Game Two Colts win.

Cameron, a 21-year-old from Brampton, ON, is playing in his fifth OHL season as an overage player with the Colts. In 62 regular season games this season he recorded 78 points including a league-high 53 goals with 25 assists.

Colts’ defenceman Alex Pietrangelo was also considered for the award this week with seven assists in three games. Nazem Kadri of the London Knights receives honourable mention for the second straight week and was named first star of the game twice with five points including two goals and three assists in two games to give the Knights a 2-0 series lead over the Guelph Storm. In goal, Philipp Grubauer posted two wins with a goals-against-average of 1.50 and save percentage of .942 to lead the Windsor Spitfires to a 2-0 series lead over the Erie Otters.
