Garbowsky named BCHL Player of the Week

Press Release

Powell River Kings forward Matt Garbowsky has been named the British Columbia Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending March 14th, the league announced Monday.

After picking up 12 points in a Round 1 victory over Cowichan Valley, Garbowky added to his league-leading totals with six goals and two assists in a second-round series win against the Langley Chiefs. His eight points helped Powell River's pull the four-game sweep and punch their ticket to the Coastal Conference Final.

The rookie import from St. George, Ontario recorded a three-point night in last Tuesday's 7-1 win to open the Coastal semi-final series. Garbowsky then scored twice in the series-clinching 3-0 victory Saturday night at the Langley Events Centre to cap off the series.

The Kings, who have lost only once so far in the BCHL playoffs, now await their conference finals opponent. They will play the winner of the Alberni Valley-Nanaimo semi-final series, which is currently even at two games apiece.
