Green Bay Gamblers Win Anderson Cup

Press Release

The Green Bay Gamblers clinched their second straight Anderson Cup title as USHL regular season champions after a 4-3 shootout win over Fargo on Saturday night.

Forward Ludwig Karlsson scored in regulation and had the only goal in the five-round shootout while goaltender Ryan McKay stopped all five Fargo attempts to earn the victory for the Gamblers.

It is the fourth Anderson Cup title in team history and second time they have won the title in back-to-back seasons (1995-97). The last USHL team to win the regular season championship in consecutive seasons was the Lincoln Stars (1999-2001).

The Gamblers have a 43-10-5 record with two regular season games remaining and have already set a team record for wins, which is the most in the USHL since the Omaha Lancers won 43 games during their Anderson Cup title in 2007-08.

The victory also guarantees the Gamblers the first overall seed and home-ice advantage throughout the 2010 Clark Cup Playoffs.
