Lynch Commits to RIT

Lincoln Stars forward Ben Lynch has committed to the Rochester Institute of Technology and will attend the school beginning in the fall of 2010.

The 20-year-old is playing in his third USHL season and currently ranks second in team scoring with 30 points (14g, 16a), which is a career high for him in the League, while being the only player to appear in all 56 games for the Stars. He also leads the team with three game-winning goals this season. The native of Blaine, Minnesota previously played two seasons for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders (2007-09). In 174 career games in the USHL, he has tallied 83 points (36g, 47a).

RIT is a member of the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) and recently won its first conference championship to earn their first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament as a Division I program. Eight former USHL players are on the roster for the RIT Tigers this season; Shane Madolora (Omaha Lancers), Taylor McReynolds (Green Bay Gamblers), Sean Murphy (Green Bay Gamblers), Cameron Burt (Green Bay Gamblers), Jeff Smith (Tri-City Storm), Mike Janda (Chicago Steel), Chris Saracino (Green Bay Gamblers), and Jared DeMichiel (Chicago Steel). In addition, RIT assistant coach Dave Insalaco spent two seasons (2006-08) on the coaching staff for the Green Bay Gamblers.
