CCHL U 16 Camp

Press Release

The Central Canada Hockey League is pleased to announce the itinerary for the Under 16 ODHA Program of Excellence being held at the Cavanagh Kinburn Sensplex April 15-17, 2011. This is the only camp sanctioned as an Under 16 Elite Camp by the ODHA.

This camp will see the top 1996 birth players from the ODHA participate in four scrimmage games, and also receive information regarding the opportunities for them in Junior A hockey, as well as maintaining a healthy balance that includes education, off-ice training and nutrition. Over 75% of the participants in this camp will become Junior A players in the CCHL.

Our very special guest is former NHLPA President and current College Hockey Inc. Executive Director Paul Kelly, who will address participants and parents to provide accurate insight and information on collegiate hockey, and the importance of education as players enter Junior hockey. A refreshing presentation will provide real information that clearly explains eligibility in the NCAA, college graduation rates for players choosing the NCAA and the opportunities that are growing for college graduates in professional hockey.

The Central Canada Hockey League will also be making presentations to outline the path ahead for elite players and the importance of understanding options and choices.

In addition, the CCHL is hosting a special Top Prospects Game for the top 1995 birth players in the ODHA. This game will see the top protected players from the 2010 draft, as well as the highest ranked players from CCHL central scouting in a single game to allow them the added exposure, and also the opportunity to participate in the seminars for the weekend. This annual, invitation only game will be at no cost to participants, who will be notified in the coming weeks.

Finally, the top 1994 players in the CCHL and from lower categories in the branch will also participate in the CCHL Top Rookie game. Many of these players have already been drafted in the OHL and have received NCAA scholarship offers. They will also be invited at no cost to attend this great weekend of elite hockey.

Check the CCHL website for updates and player rosters in the coming weeks!
