Volts get back to winning

Press Release

SHAWINIGAN, Que. -- Yannick Riendeau had two goals and two assists as the Drummondville Voltigeurs beat the Shawinigan Cataractes 5-4 Tuesday in Game 3 of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League championship series.

Drummondville leads the best-of-seven series 2-1. Game 4 goes Wednesday in Shawinigan.

Dany Masse scored twice and Ryan McKiernan had the other goal for the Voltigeurs. Gabriel Dumont had two assists.

Riendeau came into the game as the leading scorer in the playoffs by three points ahead of teammate Christopher DiDomenico. Riendeau's second goal at 17:32 of the third period was the game-winner.

Cedric Lalonde-McNicoll and Matthew Pistilli both scored twice all the Cataractes. Both players also added an assist for three-point nights.

Marco Cousineau made 27 saves in net for the Voltigeurs. Timo Pielmeier stopped 24 shots for Shawinigan.

The Cataractes picked up some momentum in Game 2 after they defeated Drummondville 5-3. That loss ended the Voltigeurs' 13-0 run to start the playoffs and any attempt at a perfect run towards the QMJHL championship.
