Rall Commits to University of Alaska Anchorage

Chicago Steel defenseman Zack Rall has committed to play collegiate hockey at the University of Alaska Anchorage and will attend the school following his USHL career.

The 17-year-old blueliner is a native of Anchorage, Alaska and has collected four assists in 33 games with the Steel this season. It is the first USHL season for Rall after being selected by the Steel with the 48th selection in the 2008 USHL Futures Draft.

Two other current USHL players are committed to Alaska Anchorage; Sioux City Musketeers forward Joe Kalisz and Sioux Falls Stampede forward Matt Bailey.

The University of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves are a member of the WCHA and have three USHL alumni on the current roster; Mitch Bruijsten (Sioux City Musketeers), Luka Vidmar (Chicago Steel), and Sean Wiles (Tri-City Storm). Seawolves assistant coach Regg Simon spent four seasons (2004-08) as head coach of the Des Moines Buccaneers and was also a player for the Bucs for two seasons (1994-96).
