RBC League Scholarship Winner Announced

Alexi Pianosi of the Aurora Tigers has been selected as the 2010 R.B.C. Scholarship League Winner. Alexi will receive a $1000.00 League Scholarship & becomes eligible for the $5000.00 National Award.

Alexi graduated Honours with Distinction from Queen Elizabeth High School in Nova Scotia.
In 2006, he received Nova Scotia's Lieutenant Governors Medal for Academic Excellence, Leadership & Community Involvement.

In addition he was awarded the Tom Cross Award for athletic leadership & his Junior High School Principal's Award for outstanding graduate.

While in High School Alexi served on the Student Council, Youth Health & Safety Committee & the Student Awareness Committee on tobacco. He was also a member of a transition team who worked to combine two High Schools into one.

Alexi has taken elective University courses at Mount Allison University. He plans to continue his University education in Ontario studying Life Sciences with a view to a career in Sports Medicine.
He is a volunteer with the King Noble Minor Hockey Association, has coached a Junior High School hockey team & has worked for the Target Hockey Academy instructing 7-14 year olds.

Before coming to Aurora Alexi played in the QMJHL.

Alexi was selected on the basis of his Academic achievements, Community involvement, reference letter, his involvement in hockey & his answers to questions contained in the R.B.C. Scholarship application.
