McCARRON COMMITS TO CORNELL

Press Release

The Buzzers proudly announce the NCAA Division I commitment of Patrick McCarron (photo credit - St. Michael's Buzzers) to the Cornell Big Red for the 2012 or 2013 season. Patrick joins a long list of Buzzer players attending Cornell recently including Daniel Pegoraro, Erik Axell, Greg Miller and Nick D'Agostino.

GM Rich Ricci on Patrick, "I'm extremely happy to announce this today. I have watched Paddy for several years of his hockey development with Humber Valley, the Toronto Marlies and the St. Michael's College School teams. I thought he was a steal when we drafted him late to Oshawa in the OHL. We had him much higher in the draft. I am especially proud and happy for his parents Mike and Tammy who have shown endless support to Patrick and his siblings. Mike rescued the St. Michael’s Buzzers program over seven years ago and I'm proud to say under his ownership, the program has flourished with multiple championships and countless players moving on to the next levels of hockey. His hands off approach has allowed for the success of the program and the success of his son within it.

“Cornell is getting a defenceman with tremendous upside who has yet to scratch the surface of his game and physical maturity. He brings an offensive minded game with the ability to carry the puck with tremendous vision. As an underager, his defensive game was very good. His size and strength isn’t yet close to full maturity. Patrick is an example of perseverance and believing in the slow and steady road to development. It is well deserved recognition for a mature 16 year old who also has strong leadership qualities.”
