Blue Jackets sign goaltender Anton Forsberg to a three year, entry-level contract

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed goaltender Anton Forsberg to a three-year entry-level contract, General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. As is club policy, terms were not disclosed.

Columbus’ sixth pick, 188th overall, at the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Forsberg appeared in 33 games with Sodertalje of Sweden’s HockeyAllsvenskan in 2012-13, earning 24 victories while finishing second in the league with a 2.04 goals-against-average and .933 save percentage. The 6-2, 176-pound netminder made 14 appearances with MODO of the Swedish Elite League in 2011-12, recording a 3.15 GAA in addition to a .897 SV%.

A native of Harnosand, Sweden, Forsberg represented his country at the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championships in Alberta, Canada, helping Sweden earn the second gold medal in national history at the event. He recorded a 0.99 GAA and .933 SV% in two tournament appearances. Forsberg appeared in 54 games with MODO’s junior club from 2009-11, posting a 3.21 GAA and .895 SV% while recording four shutouts.
