TIGERS PROSPECTS ON DISPLAY THIS WEEKEND

Press Release

Fans looking to get a glimpse at the future of the Medicine Hat Tigers should set their sights on the Family Leisure Centre this weekend, as the Tabbies welcome their newest prospects for a weekend Orientation Camp.

Each year the club hosts its prospects for a few days of presentations, conditioning and on-ice sessions geared to give the young players an introduction to the organization.

"It's an opportunity for us to get to know one another," says Tigers General Manager and Head Coach Shaun Clouston.  "For our newly drafted prospects, it's an introduction for the parents and the players to the Medicine Hat Tigers organization.  It also allows us to build relationships with our returning players, which is really important to our continuing success."

As Clouston mentioned, this will be the first interaction with the club for a number of the 33 hopefuls making their way to the Gas City this weekend, mostly the recently selected members of the 2013 Bantam Draft class (1998-born).  In addition to the new draft picks, the 1997-born group will be looking to crack the roster for the first time this season as 16-year-olds.  Finally, the attendees are rounded out by a handful of 1996-born prospects who are trying to state their case one more time for making the club as 17-year-olds.

"It really is an orientation, so we're here to answer any questions the families might have about our team, the league, educational opportunities and scholarships, nutrition and things like that," adds Clouston.  "It's a great weekend for all of us as we get to see the players and their families excited by the prospect of one day becoming Medicine Hat Tigers."

There are a number of sessions open to the public for Tigers fans looking to check out the new crop of players.  All events take place at the Family Leisure Centre at 2000 Division Ave NW in Crescent Heights.
