AMHL Mourns Tragic Loss

Press Release

The Atlantic Metropolitan Hockey League is saddened to learn of the tragic death of former New Jersey Rocket and New York Saint defenseman, Justin Rohr (’90 birth year – Hawthorne, NJ). Rohr played youth and junior hockey with the New Jersey Rockets, before finishing his MET League career with the New York Saints in the 2009-2010 season. Justin was a valuable contributor to teams that were at the top of the AYHL for several years and was a bronze medal winner at the USA Hockey National Championships as a Bantam Major.

“Justin was a valued, long-time member of the Rockets organization,” commented New Jersey Rockets executives Debbie Vanderbeek and Peggy Del Mauro. “He was truly an outstanding player – respected and well-liked by his teammates. We are proud that he was an integral part of the Rockets family and he will be sorely missed.”

“As his coach for each of Justin’s years with the Rockets, I personally am saddened by this news,” added New Jersey Rockets executive Dick Carlson. “We all feel the tremendous loss of this vibrant young man with whom we spent so many hours with for such a long period of time. He will be deeply missed by all of us, especially those members of his ’90 birth year team.”

Viewing will be held at the Kimak Funeral Home, 425 Broad Street, Carlstadt, New Jersey on Friday, October 1, 2010 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm and from 7:00pm until 9:00pm. The funeral mass will be on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Saint Joseph’s Church in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The New Jersey Rockets, New York Saints, and the entire Atlantic Metropolitan Hockey League extend its deepest sympathies to the Rohr family.
