Tam, Kamaev and Casavant named TELUS three stars of the week

BOUCHERVILLE, September 26th 2011 - Mikaël Tam, Denis Kamaev and Benjamin Casavant were named, today, the TELUS three stars of the week for the period spanning from September 19th to 25th.

Quebec Remparts defenseman Mikaël Tam is the first star after having scored five goals. During Friday’s game against the Victoriaville Tigres, Tam scored two goals in a 5-3 victory. Two days later against the Chicoutimi Saguenéens he recorded his first hat trick, scoring his seventh, eighth and ninth goals of the season in a 9-1 win. It is worth noting that he has scored at least one goal in each of the last five games. Tam has accumulated a total of 12 points.

The second star of the week is awarded to Kamaev Denis, right-winger of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. He scored a total of 2 goals and added 6 assists in three games, helping his team win two of its three road games with scores of 5-4 against the PEI Rocket and of 6-4 against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. Kamaev also gathered assists during each one of his games: three Thursday, two Friday and one on Sunday. He has a total of 2 goals, 7 assists and 9 points this season.

Finally, it is left-winger Benjamin Casavant of the Val-d'Or Foreurs who grabs the third star. He played four games, scoring five goals and adding two assists. Tuesday, he made a nifty pass in the third period to Matthew Theriault, allowing his team to win the game 3-2 against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. During Thursday’s game against the Moncton Wildcats, he scored a hat trick ensuring a 7-3 victory for the Foreurs. Finally, on Friday he scored two goals and added an assist against Saint John. In eight games, he scored six goals and added two assists for a total of 8 points.
