The Chowder Cup Is Underway

The Chowder Cup got underway this morning in Foxboro, Massachusetts and Dedham, Massachusetts. Three games have already been completed and the South Shore Dynamos have defeated the Mass Mariners 9-1. After committing to Boston College yesterday, Billy Arnold had a goal and two assists in the win. Mission Prospects beat the Northern Connecticut Wings by a score of 2-0. District 10 Selects had a 4-1 victory against the Mass Northstars.

The London Free Press did a story on the tournament focusing on the London Knights. It also mentions the alumni team that will be heading to Europe to face some European teams. At first some people thought the actual London Knights were heading to Europe. The team looks pretty good so far with Sam Gagner, Rob Schremp, Brandon Prust, Dylan Hunter, Marc Methot and Adam Dennis on the roster. Some NHL teams aren't allowing their players to play which I understand. I am surprised Gagner is on the team because he will be a big part of the Oilers this season.

The Garrett Clarke saga appears to be over. He will be a Maineiac by the end of the week. For those who haven't been following the situation. Back in January, Clarke who's 15 and a defenseman committed to North Dakota for the 2010 season. The newly formed Fargo Force also signed him to play for them this season. He was a highly rated prospect for the QMJHL Draft but it was a forgone conclusion he would slip because of his committment. Clarke stated he wouldn't attend the draft but when Lewiston made their selection of Garrett Clarke he appeared on stage. The day after the draft he verbally committed to the Maineiacs. A week ago rumors were North Dakota and the Fargo Force made on last push but it looks like he has come to term with Lewiston.

That's My Take
