News and Notes

The biggest news of the day in Junior Hockey was the Anaheim Ducks signing their 2007 1st round pick Logan MacMillan. He was the 19th overall selection and is currently with the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL. Last season it was a struggle for MacMillan who battled with injuries throughout the season. He ended up with 15 goals and 26 assists in 46 contests. Two years ago, he had 20 goals and 35 assists in 68 games.

The Lewiston Maineiacs have hired Jon Goyens to become an assistant coach.

NHL.com has a couple of pieces of interest. Here's a piece on former Wisconsin Badger Kyle Turris, another on two former QMJHLers that are Washington picks, Nashville prospect Jon Blum, and the Saponari brothers.

Nathan White of the Telegraph-Journal has a story on the Ted Nolan firing. You can read my reactions here.

The Ottawa 67's Fan Blog has a quick blurb on players at NHL camps.

Jeff Bromley has a story on the Kootenay Ice and their arena lease with the city.

Brad Elliot Schlossman
has a Q & A session with Nick Mattson of the National Team Development Program Under 18 team.

The World Under 18 Tournament has released the schedule for next April's event in Fargo-Moorhead.

That's My Take
