Two OHL 1st Rounders Sign Deals

The Plymouth Whalers have signed their 1st Round pick Tyler Seguin. The Whalers made him the ninth overall selection in the 2008 OHL Draft. This past season with the Toronto Young Nationals he had 39 goals and 47 assists in 51 contests. He was considering the NCAA route where his dad, Paul, played at Vermont. The OHL Central Scouting had this to say about Seguin:
Central Scouting describes Seguin as "a very skilled, offensively minded forward who plays a very prominent role in the success of his team. He is a very good skater that possesses quickness, agility and a great start. He plays the game at top speed and is.

The Whalers also announced they have signed goalie Scott Wedgewood who was a seventh round pick in this year's draft.

The Soo Greyhounds announced the signing of Brock Beukeboom. He was the 19th overall selection in this years draft.

There is a rumor on the Western College Hockey Blog that Bjorn Krupp will sign with the Belleville Bulls. He was a second round pick in the 2007 Draft. This past season he played with the USA National Team Development Program's Under 17 Team. He had a goal and five assists in 63 games. He also had 42 pims. His father is former NHLer Uwe Krupp.

It would be the fourth loss of the NTDP this summer. They lost potential players for this year's Under 17 Team in Beau Schmitz (Plymouth), Austin Watson (Windsor) and Jared Knight (London). They could also loose a couple more to the OHL. Cam Fowler could go to Windsor, he will be on the Under 18 Team if he stays with the NTDP. Brandon Saad was drafted by the Saginaw Spirit this year. He was the tenth overall selection and could play with the NTDP's Under 17 team. Adam Clendenning has a picture with a London Knights jersey on. He's another player that could play for the Under 17 team. A long shot this year to sign is Jon Merrill. His rights belong to the Whalers.

Stephen Johns has committed to the NTDP and was a third round selection of the Windsor Spitfires in this year's draft.

That's My Take
