Ethan Werek Will Head to the USHL

Ethan Werek who played for the Stouffville Spirit of Ontario Provincial Junior "A" Hockey League last season will play for the Indiana ICE this upcoming season. He's committed to Boston University for the 2009 season. With the Spirit which his dad is a co-owner he had 29 goals and 41 assists in 37 contests. He was a 1st round selection of the Kingston Frontenacs of the OHL in 2007. There was a rumor last summer that he would join the Frontenacs this past season but they were false.

When Werek gets on the BU campus he will rejoin former teammate Corey Trivino. With the Spirit last year Trivino had 19 goals and 50 assists. At the World Under 18 in April, he had four goals and three assists in seven games. Trivino was a second round selection of the New York Islanders this past June. Before joining the Terriers, he play in front of former Boston University goalie Brett Bennett who's a 5th round draft pick of the Phoenix Coyotes in 2006. Bennett was 16-10-3 last year with the Terriers and with a 2.62GAA and a .888SV%.

The Windsor Star had some notes on Cam Fowler, the Windsor Spitfires 1st round selection in the 2008 OHL Entry Draft and Richard Panik their Import pick. Fowler will be at the USA World Junior Evaluation Camp next month in Lake Placid, NY. He will be the youngest player their. Right now he's slated to go back to the National Team Development Program with the Under 18 team. He has said he will finish his commitment with the National Program and the 2009-2010 season he's undecided. He has commited to Notre Dame for the 2009-2010 season. Some say he might go to the OHL route so he can dominate the younger competition then play against older players. Panik its either play against pros in the Czech Republic or play against his age group. I can't see the Spitfires use a high pick on him if they didn't have deal in place with him.

Speaking of the USA NTDP U-18 Team, USA Hockey released the Four Nations Tournament that will take place November 4th to November 8th. That tournament will also be held in Lake Placid. The Women's Four Nations will also be held at the same time.

That's My Take
