Banner Banner Mausolf headed to the University of Nebraska-Omaha

Press Release

The Neepawa Natives are pleased to announce that Zach Mausolf will be attending the University of Nebraska-Omaha, where he will play hockey and study in a Business curriculum.

Mausolf, who hails from Aurora, MN, will embark on a degree in Business.

Mavericks coach Dean Blais is pleased with attaining a player and person of Mausolf's capabilities.

“Zach is a tremendous individual," said Blais. "Zach is a great fit for our program. He will fill a big role for next year’s class of freshman players here at UNO. He is great skater, quick, very explosive, and we believe that Zach will help fill a skilled role which will help us improve on the depth of our roster next year. We know he can score".

UNO was ranked # 14 in the country last year with an overall record of 21-16-2, 17-9-2 in the WCHA. They lost in the opening round of the NCAA Division I men’s ice hockey West Regional’s. They lost to the # 6 ranked University of Michigan Wolverines 27-10-4 overall record, 20-7-1 in the CCHA.

Blais praised the recruiting process and his dealings with the Neepawa organization. This is not the first time Blais and Perrier have hooked up before in the recruiting process. When Blais was Head Coach at the University of North Dakota, he recruited two players in one season from Perrier’s team.

"The Neepawa organization has been outstanding to work with. They work extremely hard to support their players," he said. "They made the recruiting process extremely easy for us," he said.

Natives coach Bryant Perrier offered his endorsement of the decision.

"Zach really improved as a person both socially and physically here in Neepawa. He was a pleasure to coach as a player," he said. He really developed into a good leader over the past two years for our organization.

"The athletic and academic opportunity for Zach will be great. Zach will help make a difference in society when he finishes his hockey career and education."

"Nebraska-Omaha is a fine educational institution with a first class hockey program that is going to provide Zach with a great opportunity to combine winning hockey with building a great future," Perrier said.

“I would like to thank my coach, Bryant Perrier, for all his efforts through this process,” said Mausolf. “I would like to thank the Natives organization for all their care and support. Thank you to my Mom and Dad for their dedication and commitment to me over the years. Also, to my billet family in Neepawa.

The Natives are delighted for Zach and his family. They wish him the best in all his future endeavours.
