OJHL EAST FALLS IN SHOOTOUT

Press Release

Game one of the first-ever Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge saw Team OJHL East (photo credit - Robert Lefebvre/Ice Level) fall 4-3 in a shootout to the QJAAAHL's All-Star squad.

The 1st period was a back-and-forth affair that saw the teams knotted at two goals each. Whitby Fury and Team Canada East star Devin Shore opened the scoring for the OJHL just over a minute into the period. Then after a couple of quick Quebec goals, Dylan Goddard of the Cobourg Cougars deflected a point shot, from Chad Duchesne of the Kingston Voyageurs, with only one hand on his stick to tie the game entering period two.

The 2nd period was a tighter affair with Quebec scoring their second ppg of the game to take a 3-2 lead. Then, with the clocking ticking down, Miles MacLean of the Trenton Golden Hawks punched in the tying goal with only six seconds remaining to send the game to a shootout.

Unfortunately for Team OJHL East, Darcy Murphy of the Wellington Dukes and Josh Ocampo of the Trenton Golden Hawks would both miss their shootout attempts while the QJAAAHL would score on both of theirs to take home the opening game victory 4-3.

Next up is Team OJHL South who faces off against the CCHL Robinson Division, beginning at 2:15 pm.
