Press Release

Game three of the Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge saw the OJHL West Division All-Stars (photo credit - Robert Lefebvre/Ice Level) down the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) All-Star squad 4-1, picking up the first victory for the OJHL at the inaugural tournament..

The OJHL West started with a bang as Georgetown Raiders forward Patrick Megannety opened the scoring just 10 seconds into the game. Oakville Blades netminder James Prigione held the fort for the OJHL, stopping nine 1st period shots from the NOJHL and Burlington Cougars rookie Shane Conacher scored on a penalty shot to enter the 2nd period with a 2-0 lead.

The 2nd period started much of the same as Shane Bennett from the Buffalo Jr. Sabres made it a 3-0 lead early. After the NOJHL broke Prigione's shutout bid a few minutes later, Braedan Russell of the Oakville Blades regained the OJHL West's three goal lead, making it a 4-1 final.
