SOUTH UPENDS EAST IN CONFERENCE BATTLE

Press Release

The OJHL South Division took home a 6-2 decision over their Conference rivals from the East to keep their Central Canada Cup hopes alive.

St. Michael's Buzzers star Daniel Milne opened the scoring from North York Ranger Bryson Cianfrone just 20 seconds into the opening frame and Daniel Vernace of the Mississauga Chargers gave the South a 2-0 lead heading into the intermission. South netminder Victor Adamo of the Vaughan Vipers stopped 16 OJHL East shots to hold the fort.

The 2nd period was much of the same for OJHL South. Mark Cooper scored his first of two goals to give the South a 3-0 lead, before Spencer MacCormack of the Trenton Golden Hawks finally broke Adamo's shutout. The South then went on another tear with goals from Matt Carey of the Toronto Jr. Canadiens, Cooper's second and Tommy Sumi, also of the Buzzers. David McMullen scored a final goal for the East, making the final score was 6-1 for the OJHL South Division.
