Silvertips Recall Andy Desautels

Press Release

EVERETT, WA – Everett Silvertips Vice President/General Manager Doug Soetaert today announced that goaltender Andy Desautels will join the club while fellow netminder Austin Lotz is away at the 2012 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. Lotz, 16, is set to represent his native Manitoba while playing for Team West at the tournament, which will be held from December 29 - January 4 in Windsor, Ontario. Desautels, meanwhile, will pair with Kent Simpson to complete the Silvertips’ goaltending tandem starting with Tuesday’s game at Seattle.

Desautels, 17, returns for another stint with the Silvertips after seeing time with Everett late in the regular season and into the playoffs last year. He has appeared in 15 games for the Flin Flon Bombers of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League this season, sporting a 9-4-1 record, .903 saves percentage and 3.35 goals-against average.

Hailing from White City Saskatchewan, Desautels also competed in the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge as a 16-year-old. He played one game for Team West at last year’s tournament, stopping 28 of 29 shots in a 4-1 victory over Team Slovakia. The 6-3, 200-pounder also saw action in one game for the Silvertips last season, playing the final ten minutes of the regular season finale against Vancouver before serving as Everett’s back-up goaltender during the playoffs.
