Weidauer to join Niagara College in 2013

Press Release

For the third time in a week, a member of the Jr. A Canadians has signed on with an NCAA school. Christian Weidauer will join the Niagara College Purple Eagles Division 1 hockey program beginning in the 2013 season he announced this week. Weidauer will join fellow Canadian Dan Kolenda who committed to Niagara last week.

Weidauer, from Keswick, ON, has quickly become a top offensive defenceman in the league and has proven to be a powerplay specialist. In his rookie season, he scored a total of 22 points - 6 goals and 9 assists came with the man advantage. This year, he's averaging a point a game with 21 of his 35 points coming on the powerplay. He earned his way onto that unit, said coach Jason Clarke, by 'displaying a calm demeanor with the puck, tremendous vision and a terrific shot.'

'We're extremely pleased for Christian. When he came to us, he was a quiet kid who no question showed the skills required to play in this league and move on to the NCAA. Being away from home for the first time wasn't easy for him but he's matured over his time in Carleton Place and has now been rewarded for his hard work and dedication on the ice and in the classroom,' added Clarke.

From the entire organization, congrats Christian!
