Bodie named BCHL Player of the Week

Press Release

Powell River Kings defenceman Mat Bodie has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending April 11th, the league announced Monday.

The Kings' team captain and leading playoff scorer continued to lead the way for the Coastal Conference champions in a pair of Fred Page Cup Finals victories last week. On Tuesday, Bodie scored once and set up power-play markers by Chad Niddery and Andrew Pettitt in a 4-0 home ice win.

On Saturday, with Powell River needing a victory to extend the series to a Game 7, Bodie came through again with a goal and two assists. The 20-year old scored shorthanded early in the second period before setting up Mitch Labreche's game winner moments later.

Overall, Bodie scored three times and added five assists in four games last week. He leads all BCHL players in postseason scoring with 31 points.
