Coyle wins the 2010 John Carlton Award

Press Release

Boston, MA- South Shore Kings forward Charlie Coyle was presented with the 2010 John Carlton Award, given to the outstanding student-athlete in Eastern Massachusetts high school or junior hockey.

Coyle, a native of Weymouth, MA, arrived in Foxboro after two outstanding years at Thayer Academy and has caught the attention of scouts throughout the season. In 42 games, he scored 21 goals and added 42 assists. His totals placed him second on the Kings and fifth in the league. He also scored two goals in the EJHL Dineen Cup Championship game. He was awarded the Rookie of the Year and was a runner-up for Most Valuable Player.

Outside of the EJHL, Coyle joined the US National Team for the Four Nations Tournament in Finland back in November. He was recently ranked number 24 on the NHL Central Scouting Bureau's final rankings of North American skaters.

"It's simply amazing," remarked Coyle. "It's pretty special to be recognized with this award. I've always hoped to play in the NHL; I've worked my whole life for it, and this is a sign that it's been paying off so far. Hopefully my hard work will continue to pay off in the future."

The Boston University recruit is only the second junior player to receive the award, after Edwin Shea of the Junior Bruins in 2008.
