Lancers Top Scorer Commits to St. Cloud State University

The Omaha Lancers announced that forward Jimmy Murray has committed to play collegiate hockey beginning next season at St. Cloud State University.

Murray is currently tops in the USHL with 18 assists and is tied for fourth in scoring with 23 points (5g, 18a). The second-year USHL forward has put up six points (1g, 5a) over his last three games, all victories for the Lancers. He also established a League season high this season when he dished out four assists in the 6-4 win vs. Sioux City on November 13th. The 19-year-old from Darien, Illinois first broke into the USHL last season, collecting 12 points (4g, 8a) in 33 games for the Fargo Force.

Six other current USHL players are committed to St. Cloud State University; Ethan Prow (Des Moines Buccaneers), Jonny Brodzinski (Fargo Force), Ville Jarvelainen (Green Bay Gamblers), Markus Lauridsen (Green Bay Gamblers), Joona Manninen (Muskegon Lumberjacks), and Ryan Papa (Waterloo Black Hawks).

The St. Cloud State University Huskies are a member of the WCHA and have 13 USHL alumni on the roster this season; Nic Dowd (Indiana Ice), Jared Festler (Lincoln Stars), Kevin Gravel (Sioux City Musketeers), Nick Jensen (Green Bay Gamblers), Taylor Johnson (Green Bay Gamblers), Drew LeBlanc (Chicago Steel), Mike Lee (Fargo Force), Travis Novak (Omaha Lancers), Sam Zabkowicz (Sioux Falls Stampede), Jarrod Rabey (Indiana Ice), Brooks Bertsch (Dubuque Fighting Saints), Nick Oliver (Fargo Force), and Andrew Prochno (Sioux Falls/Waterloo).

In addition, St. Cloud head coach Bob Motzko played in the USHL for the Dubuque Fighting Saints and spent seven seasons as a head coach in the League (Sioux Falls Stampede 1999-2001, North Iowa Huskies 1986-91).
