CHIEFS' UHER SIGNS WITH NHL'S PENGUINS

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced today that Spokane Chief forward Dominik Uher has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the NHL club. Uher was drafted by the Penguins in the fifth round (144th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Uher's 33 goals in 63 games last season led the Chiefs while his 68 points were second. The Penguins prospect added five goals and nine points in 13 postseason contests for the Chiefs. After his 2012 campaign with Spokane, Uher joined the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League (AHL) but did not play in the Calder Cup Playoffs.

The 6-foot, 195-pound forward has produced 58 goals and 144 points in 181 regular-season games with Spokane from 2009-2012. He contributed 20 points (seven goals, 13 assists) in 36 postseason contests with the Chiefs.

The native of Ostvava, Czech Republic represented his country at the 2012 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Junior Championships in December, notching three points (one goal, two assists) in six games during the tournament.
