Sarner not returning to Stampede next season

Press Release

Sioux Falls, SD—The Sioux Falls Stampede announced today that Director of Player Personnel Craig Sarner will not be returning to the organization next season. Sarner has been the primary scout and Director of Player Personnel for the Herd on two separate occasions (2005-07 & 2010-12).

"On behalf of the Sioux Falls Stampede, we would like to thank Craig for his loyal service to the organization over the years,” said Stampede GM/head coach Cary Eades. “His willingness to "pound the pavement" in attending so many games, combined with his expertise in evaluating talent, has benefitted us greatly. He has left a positive impact on the Stampede organization and the many players he has helped in furthering their hockey careers. We wish Craig well in his future endeavors."

Sarner was instrumental in helping build the Stampede’s Anderson Cup (2005-06) and Clark Cup (2006-07) championship teams. As a player, Sarner skated with the U.S. Olympic team in 1972 where captured a Silver Medal and played professional hockey with the Boston Bruins organization.

The Stampede just completed their tryout camp and are making preparations for the upcoming 2012-13 season which will begin at the end of September. The regular season schedule is expected to be released later this summer.
