Lakers’ Lyndon Lipinski named Pizza Hut player of the week

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced today that Lyndon Lipinski of the Fort Frances Lakers has been named Pizza Hut player of the week for the period ending Dec. 22.

In three games to conclude the 2013 portion of the SIJHL’s regular season schedule the 20-year-old native of Grand Prairie, Alta., amassed 11 points helping Fort Frances skate to a trio of triumphs.|

Lipinski began his award-winning effort Dec. 16 by doling out a pair of assists, including setting up the game-winner as the Lakers knocked off the Thunder Bay North Stars 5-3.

On Dec. 20 the Fort Frances forward had a goal and two helpers as his side blasted the Dryden Ice Dogs 14-0.

Lipinski then conclude his week Dec. 21 by notching his first hat-trick in his three-year Jr. A career while also adding three assists as the Lakers rolled over the Ice Dogs by a 9-3 count.

On the season he sits fourth overall in SIJHL offensive production with 19 tallies and 30 helpers for 40 points.

Off the ice Lipinski has made a difference as well helping to successfully lead the Lakers’ Adopt-a-School program at J.W. Walker Elementary School in Fort Frances.

Also receiving consideration for Pizza Hut player of the week was Greg Harney, (G) English River Miners; Daniel Delpaggio, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars; Thomas Fazio, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers; Chris Belhumeur, (F) Dryden Ice Dogs and Tanner Vinson, (D) Wisconsin Wilderness.

At the conclusion of the regular season the SIJHL’s most valuable player will be presented the Pizza Hut player of the year award and will also go on to be the league’s representative for the national Canadian Junior Hockey League player of the year trophy.
