Saints add goaltender Ben Johansson

Press Release

DUBUQUE, IA—The Dubuque Fighting Saints announced today that goaltender Ben Johansson has joined the team and will be eligible for action this weekend. Johansson takes the open roster spot previously occupied by Christian Frey, who left the Fighting Saints earlier this month to accept a scholarship at Ohio State.

Johansson is a native of Uppsala, Sweden who has junior hockey experience overseas. The 1994 born netminder stands at 6-foot-1 and 209 lbs and spent the last two seasons with the Almtuna J20 squad. This season, he appeared in 13 games, posting a 2.54 goals against average and a .902 save percentage. Johansson's increased workload this season was well deserved after a stellar performance in 2012-2013 in limited action. In 10 games, Johansson posted a 1.97 goals against average and a .913 save percentage for Almtuna J20.

The big, right-handed catching goaltender has been added to the team's 23-man roster and will wear #31 for the Fighting Saints.

In addition to the acquisition of Johansson, the Fighting Saints also announced today that Dylan Chanter has left the team. The Fighting Saints retain Chanter's rights in Tier-I junior hockey. Chanter's departure was not related to any medical issues.
