News and Notes

Other results from the Ivan Hlinka Tournament.

Sweden defeats Slovakia 6-5

Finland defeats the Czech Republic 2-1 in overtime.

I will have a detailed report on the USA game against Russia. As usual, USA Hockey is slow releasing details of the game. Russia won 5-1.

Former Omaha Lancer Aaron Lewadniuk has signed with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL. He was slated to go Bemidji State this season. With the Lancers last year, he had 15 goals and 23 assists in 58 games. The Lancers also lost Patrick Wiercioch who decommitted from Wisconsin for the 2009 season and committed to Denver University for the 2008 campaign.

The Brandon Wheat Kings also have signed Klarc Wilson. He was the 13th overall pick in the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft. He had 79 points including 34 goals in 31 contests with the Edmonton Knights of Columbus Squires of the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League. He's only eligible to play five games with the Wheat Kings this season. He should spend majority of the year at the AAA Midget level.

That's My Take

I think you and I should lay a beat down on USA Hockey! So frustrating.
