Team White Gets a Shutout

Calgary, AB- The first game is complete at the Ivan Hlinka Selection Camp, with Team White defeating Team Red, 2-0. Nathan Lieuwen (Westside, BCHL, 2009) was White's starter and Olivier Bellavance-Roy (Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, QMJHL, 2009) took over in the second period to perserve the shutout.

It was a quite 1st period as no one could light the lamp.

Taylor Hall (Windsor Spitfires, OHL), probably the consenus No. 1 pick in 2010, got the first goal. He beat another 2010 Eligible player in Maxime Clermont (Gatineau Olympiques, QMJHL) with a wrist shot. The goal came at the 4:26 mark with Ryan O'Reilly(Erie Otters, OHL, 2009) getting the only helper. O'Reilly went 1st in the 2007 Ontario Hockey League's Draft, Taylor Hall was choosen second. Jimmy Bubnick (Kamloops Blazers, WHL, 2009)

Team Red have their chances in the third period. Jimmy Bubnick (Kamloops Blazers, WHL, 2009) hit the crossbar and that was their best chance. After Team Red pulled their goalie, Brayden McNabb (Kootenay Ice, WHL, 2009) put away at the 19:23 mark.

Roy and Lieuwen combined to stop 24 shots and Clermont and Bryce O’Hagan (Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, OHL, 2010) stopped 22 of the 23 pucks they saw.

Game 2 is tonight at 8pm eastern time.
