USA Goes 3-1

The USA Under 17 Select team is coming home with a record of 3-1 after their victory over Slovakia. They defeated the Slovaks 5-2. The Americans were led by Massachusetts native Billy Arnold who had three goals and added an assist. The game started off with Slovakia getting out to a 2-0 lead in the first period. The Americans came back and ended the period down 2-1 with a goal by Ben Marshall.

It was the Billy Arnold show for the rest of the way.
He would get would get two goals in the second. Michael Mersch would assist on both efforts. Justin Faulk assisted on the first goal which was a powerplay tally.

In the third, Arnold got his third goal with Faulk assisting on the play. Arnold would return the favor when he assisted on Faulk's goal to end the scoring. Austin Czarnik got the second assist on Faulk's goal.

Arnold was named the best forward of the tournament. He had four goals and three assists in five games.

The QMJHL have received recommendations on fighting. These recommendations could be put in place in a meeting in September.

They lost to the Czechs, not the Slovaks.
