Stars sign Beskorowany

Press Release

FRISCO, Tex. -- The Dallas Stars announced today that the club has signed goaltender Tyler Beskorowany to a three-year entry-level contract. Beskorowany was Dallas’ second-round selection (No. 59 overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He has spent the last two seasons with the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).

Beskorowany, 19, earned a .930 save percentage and 2.31 GAA in the 2009 Traverse City Prospects Tournament earlier this month, ranking third among tournament goalies in both categories.

“Tyler is a very promising player for the future of our organization,” said Stars General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk. “He has worked hard and we expect that to continue as he plays in our development system.”

The 6-4, 203-pound net-minder made 37 appearances with Owen Sound last season, posting an 11-12-10 record. Beskorowany established career-bests in GAA (3.64) and save percentage (.902), while also making his post-season debut with the Attack.

As an OHL rookie in 2007-08, the Sudbury, Ontario native started 35 games while leading the team in wins (12). On August 15th, 2009, Beskorowany was traded from Owen Sound to the Kingston Frontenacs.
