Tornado Open Up New Arena with Win

Press Release

The Texas Tornado opened up the 2009-2010 exhibition season the right way with a 3-1 victory over the University of Oklahoma on Saturday night.

With the hockey-deprived crowd hungry for another season of Tornado hockey after missing out last season, the Tornado proved to be no disappointment, coming out on the ice with the visible desire to both hit and score as they pleased.

The Tornado struck first with a goal in the 1st period from #12 Axel Boyer and then again with another goal by #11 Jack Prince. Oklahoma netted the only goal of the 2nd period, beginning a comeback attempt, but never did score again. The Tornado closed out the goal-scoring with the 3rd period's only goal, off the stick of #20 Rudi Pino, to bring the score to 3-1 which would prove to be the final score.

This was the first hockey game played in Dr Pepper Arena since the 2007-2008 season.
