TELUS player of the week awards 2009-09-21

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, September 21, 2009 – Chicoutimi Saguenéens forward Jacob Lagacé and Gatineau Olympiques goaltender Maxime Clermont today were named the TELUS offensive and defensive players of the week for the period extending from September 14 to 20.

Lagacé registered three goals and three assists in only two games, helping the Saguenéens earn three valuable points in the league standings. Moreover, he directed twelve shots on net and posted a +1 rating. Lagacé enjoyed his best game of the week on Friday, collecting four points in a 6-4 win over the Victoriaville Tigres. Chicoutimi is second in the TELUS Eastern division standings.

Marc-Olivier Vallerand (Remparts), Marc-Olivier Vachon (Voltigeurs) and Steven Anthony (Sea Dogs) were also considered.

As for Clermont, he collected two wins in two starts, posting a 1.00 goals-against-average and .964 save percentage. Furthermore, he managed to shutout the Foreurs at the air Creebec Centre on Sunday by stopping 23 shots in a 3-0 victory. The Olympiques have yet to lose a game so far this season (4-0).

Hubert Genest (Junior), Nicholas Champion (Titan) and Adrien Lemay (MAINEiacs) were also strong candidates.
