Dallas Alliance capture Jim Edwards Memorial

On Sunday afternoon at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the Dallas Alliance captured the 2nd Annual Jim Edwards Memorial Classic with a 4-3 win over Team Rocky Mountain.

The tournament co-hosted by the Green Bay Gamblers and the Green Bay Jr. Gamblers featured 12 midget major teams from the United States and Canada. Along with the Dallas Alliance and Team Rocky Mountain, the other teams participating over the weekend included the California Stars, Capital Centre, Chesterfield, Green Bay Jr. Gamblers, Milwaukee Jr. Admirals, Northern Express, Ojibwa Eagles, Ontario Hockey Academy AAA, Ontario Hockey Academy U-18, and Shattuck St. Mary's AAA.

Garnering tournament most valuable player honors were Team Rocky Mountain forward Drew Allen (Offensive) and Dallas Alliance defenseman Will Leedy (Defensive).

The tournament is in remembrance of Jim Edwards and his two sons, Jim IV and Joshua, who were tragically killed in a plane crash on November 22, 2008. Edwards was the President of the Jr. Gamblers Youth Hockey Association. His son Jim IV was a sophomore at Marshfield Columbus Catholic High School and played hockey for Mosinee Co-Op and Joshua was a member of the Jr. Gamblers Squirt team. Jim Edwards is survived by wife Janelle and sons Justin and Jonathan.
