Official statement on the decision rendered by Chambre de la jeunesse

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, December 14, 2009 – The Commissioner of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Gilles Courteau, today stated that he will not comment the decision which was rendered this afternoon by la Chambre de la jeunesse except to reiterate the QMJHL’s position.

"The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League is committed to offering its players a safe and secure environment in which to play. The QMJHL possesses a vigilant disciplinary structure which is capable of imposing severe and effective disciplinary sanctions to discourage unacceptable behaviour."

The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s mission is to develop players for professional hockey while supporting them throughout their academic endeavours in order to mold them into responsible and educated citizens. It must offer high entertainment value within a profitable framework in order to ensure the continued success of its activities.
