Everett and Edmonton make a trade

Everett, WA -- Everett Silvertips Vice President / General Manager Doug Soetaert announced Monday that the Silvertips have acquired left wing Clayton Cumiskey from the Edmonton Oil Kings in exchange for right wing Cameron Abney. A native of Abbotsford, British Columbia, Cumiskey has appeared in 153 career Western Hockey League games, accumulating 51 points on 18 goals and 33 assists.

Cumiskey, 19, stands 6’0 and weighs 188 pounds. In 23 games this season, the lefthanded shooter has tallied one goal and 11 assists for 12 points along with 17 penalty minutes. He is expected to join his teammates in Everett tonight.

“We feel that we were able to acquire a player who should be able to play on our top two lines on a regular basis, which was something that we felt we needed,” Soetaert said. “We also want to thank Cameron for his contributions over the last year and a half.”

Abney, 18, is a listed player out of Aldergrove, BC. In 34 games this season, he recorded six points on three goals and three assists. He was selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the 3rd round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
