SAINT JOHN, NB, Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010 - The names of the players who will make up the 2011 edition of the Under 17 Male Team Atlantic were announced in Saint John Tuesday. Team Atlantic is comprised of players from each of the four Atlantic Provinces.

The team will represent Atlantic Canada at the 2011 World Under 17 Hockey Challenge, December 29th- January 4th, in Winnipeg/Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.

“Our coaching staff had to make some very difficult decisions, but we are confident that the twenty-two players that have been named to the team today will be great ambassadors on and off the ice for Atlantic Canada and I am sure that they will represent the Atlantic region with great pride”, stated Nic Jansen, General Manager for Team Atlantic.

Team Atlantic Under 17 Male team will be comprised of eleven players from Nova Scotia, five players from New Brunswick, three players from Prince Edward Island, and three players from Newfoundland and Labrador.

"Our group that will represent our region of the country will have their first opportunity to put on the sweater bearing the Maple Leaf crest, a dream of most young Canadians." commented Greg Leland, Head Coach for Team Atlantic Under 17.

Team Atlantic will depart for Winnipeg on December 26th. They will play an exhibition game on December 28th against Czech Republic prior to playing their first tournament game against Quebec on December 29th. "These twenty-two fortunate young athletes will be able to participate against the top players of their age category from the rest of the world, a truly unique experience. With this privilege, comes responsibility" added Leland. “We will continue the tradition of Team Atlantic in terms of competing with the highest possible energy, passion, discipline and integrity.
