RANFORD NAMED CHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Kamloops Blazers’ forward Brendan Ranford is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending November 14 after scoring three goals and three assists for six points in two games.

Ranford produced back-to-back three-point games to lead the Blazers to two home wins over the weekend. He scored two goals including the game-winner and added an assist on Saturday night as first star of a 4-0 win over the Kelowna Rockets. He followed that up with a goal and two assists as second star of a 3-1 win over the Everett Silvertips on Sunday.

Ranford, an 18-year-old from Edmonton, AB, is playing in his third WHL season with the Blazers and currently leads the league with 20 goals and sits third in points with 33 in 21 games played. The Philadelphia Flyers prospect will compete for Team WHL in the 2010 SUBWAY Super Series game on Wednesday night in Kamloops against Team Russia. The game can be seen live on Rogers Sportsnet Pacific at 7:00 pm Pacific.

Tyler Toffoli of the Ottawa 67’s was also considered after scoring nine points in three games including six goals and three assists and also suited up for Team OHL in the SUBWAY Super Series. In the QMJHL, Gabriel Bourret had six assists in two games and was named first star of the game twice in two wins for the Saint John Sea Dogs.
