USHL Honors - Week Eight

Press Release

The United States Hockey League today announced the weekly award winners for the eighth week of the 2010-11 USHL regular season.

Congratulations to forward Jimmy Mullin of the Fargo Force, named CCM Offensive Player of the Week; defenseman Jake McCabe of Team USA, selected as CCM Defensive Player of the Week; and Kevin Murdock of the Lincoln Stars who earned honors as the Reebok USHL Goaltender of the Week.

Mullin recorded five points (2g, 3a) and posted a plus-six rating in two victories for the Force. The 18-year-old dished out two assists, including one on the game-winning goal, in the 3-2 win over Sioux Falls on Friday, which helped the Force snap a seven-game winless stretch (0-6-1). Mullin then collected three points (2g, 1a) in the 8-3 victory over Waterloo on Saturday. It was his first USHL games in nearly three weeks as he was helping the U.S. Junior Select Team capture gold at the World Junior A Challenge. Mullin is in his first USHL season and leads the Force with seven goals.

McCabe tallied two points (1g, 1a) and a plus-three rating in two victories for Team USA's Under-18 squad. The defenseman scored the team's first goal and assisted on another in the 5-2 win over Indiana on Friday. It was his first career USHL goal which came on his first shot on goal this season. McCabe also posted a game high plus-three rating in the contest. The 17-year-old from Eau Claire, Wisconsin has played three USHL games this season after competing in 35 games in 2009-10 for Team USA's Under-17 squad.

Murdock earned two victories during the week for the Stars, posting a 1.00 goals-against-average and a .966 save percentage. He turned away all 28 shots he faced in the 8-0 win over Tri-City on Tuesday for his second shutout in a span of three starts. The 20-year-old then made 27 saves in the 3-2 win vs. Sioux City on Friday which extended the Stars winning streak to six games. The native of Bradenton, Florida has been in net for all six of those victories, compiling a 1.32 GAA and .955 SV% during that span. Murdock has won seven games this season, which is his third overall with the Stars.
