CORPUS CHRISTI SIGNS TWO TENDERS FOR 2011-12 SEASON

Press Release

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Corpus Christi IceRays General Manager Pat Dunn along with Head Coach Brent Hughes and Assistant Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Justin Quenneville announced today that the team has signed two players to tenders for the 2011-12 NAHL season. They are goaltender Cameron Holland and forward Dmitry Ermakov. The two signings join Joe Ginley, Chris Taff, Matt Wurst, and Payden Mielke on the tender list. The team still has three slots available for future signings.

The signed tenders will be added to a 30-man protected list comprised of current Corpus Christi eligible holdovers and future 2011 NAHL draft selections. The combined total of protected holdovers and tenders will determine how many draft picks the team will have in the upcoming 2011 NAHL draft this summer.

Holland, 18, is a 6’2 195 lb. goaltender who spent last season in high school hockey playing for the West Fargo (ND) Packers. The Fargo, ND native led the team to the 3rd place finish in the state tournament held in February. In the third place game, Holland made 44 saves to preserve the victory for the Packers. In 23 games played this past season, Holland was 14-6-2 overall with a 2.44 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage. He was one of the many invitees to the team’s recruiting trip this past week in Corpus Christi.

Ermakov, 18, is a 5’10” 175 lb. forward who spent the last two seasons with the Washington Jr. Nationals of the Atlantic Junior Hockey League (AJHL) who compete at the Tier III level. After posting 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points his first season, Ermakov broke out his season with 23 goals and 24 assists for 47 points in 44 games played. He led his team in scoring this season and was 16th in the AJHL. He also joined the IceRays last week during the recruiting visit held in Corpus Christi.

Corpus Christi has concluded the 2010-11 season and now heads into the off-season where they will draft, hold camps, and invite a new team down in September for the beginning of the 2011-12 campaign. Over the summer, be sure to check out what the team is doing off the ice in preparations for next season. Season ticket, team, and scheduling information will be available in the coming months.
