Holland Commits to Michigan State

The Okotoks Oilers are pleased to announce that 17 year old defenseman Rhett Holland has committed to Michigan State University (Spartans) of the CCHA in East Lansing, Michigan.

Rhett joined the Oilers as a 16-year old in the 2009-2010 season, playing in 57 games and earning 3 goals and 8 assists. This season Rhett was named to Team West for the World Junior A Challenge, while participating in only 31 games with the Oilers due to injury he recorded 2 goals and 9 assists.

Oilers GM/Head Coach James Poole states, "Rhett is one of the most dedicated and committed hockey players I've had the pleasure to work with. Rhett has an unmatched compete level and intensity not just in games, but also in practice and off-ice training that is infectious among his peers. Michigan State is getting a quality hockey player and a quality person that has a very bright future. The Oilers would like to congratulate Rhett and his family for his accomplishment."

Rhett Holland is the third Oiler so far this season to commit to an NCAA Division I scholarship.
