Lancers Forward Oddo Commits to Ohio State

The Omaha Lancers announced that forward Nick Oddo has committed to play collegiate hockey next season at Ohio State University.

Oddo is having his best season offensively in the USHL as he is second on the Lancers in scoring with 38 points (21g, 17a) in 53 games. He is tied for the team lead in goals and ranks second with a plus-13 rating. Four of his goals this season have been game-winners. It is the second season that Oddo has played in his hometown with the Omaha Lancers. Previously, he played two seasons with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders (2007-09). The four-year USHL veteran has tallied 99 points (55g, 44a) and a plus-25 rating in 211 career games. He has scored at least 10 goals in all four seasons.

Eleven other current USHL players are committed to attend Ohio State University; Brady Hjelle (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Chris Joyaux (Chicago Steel), Kevin Irwin (Des Moines Buccaneers), Ryan Dzingel (Lincoln Stars), Dominik Shine (Lincoln Stars), Alex McLean (Omaha Lancers), Max McCormick (Sioux City Musketeers), Matt Skoff (Sioux City Musketeers), Clark Cristofoli (Sioux Falls Stampede), Darik Angeli (Tri-City Storm), and Matt Johnson (Tri-City Storm).

Ohio State University is a member of the CCHA and had 10 USHL alumni on the roster this season; Brendan Arniel (Tri-City Storm), Chris Crane (Green Bay Gamblers), Dan Dries (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders/Ohio Jr. Blue Jackets), Alex Lippincott (Fargo Force), Brandon Martell (Fargo Force/Tri-City Storm), Chris Reed (Ohio Jr. Blue Jackets), Patrick Schafer (Omaha Lancers), Shane Sims (Des Moines Buccaneers), Sergio Somma (Green Bay Gamblers), and Corey Toy (Omaha Lancers).

In addition, Buckeyes head coach Mark Osiecki spent seven seasons (1997-2004) in the USHL as the head coach of the Green Bay Gamblers.
