Rocket Announce 3-Year Lease Extension

Press Release

The PEI Rocket are extremely pleased to announce a 3 year extension to the License Agreement with the Charlottetown Civic Centre.

"We have always believed that Charlottetown should be the home of the Rocket and this agreement allows us to continue to strengthen our relationship with the city, the province, the local business community and our fans. There have been many rumours over the past few months, and hopefully this announcement will put them all to rest", said President and Governor, Serge Savard Jr. As we have said many times, our plan is to make the PEI Rocket successful. We believe in Charlottetown, we believe in Prince Edward Island and we are confident that our three year lease extension will allow us to attract former, current, and new Rocket fans to the rink".

Civic Center Board Chairman John Abbott stated "The signing of this three year extension with the Rocket organization and the Savard family continues a proud tradition of QMJHL hockey at the Charlottetown Civic Center. We encourage business owners and citizens to purchase season tickets, become sponsors and join us in supporting this high level of hockey in Charlottetown." He further added "We appreciate the fact that the Savard family continues to invest in our community and this three year commitment is a testament to the Savard's dedication to all of Prince Edward Island".

Mayor Clifford Lee added that "cities such as Charlottetown need exciting activities to attract and retain people from all walks of life. Rocket hockey games offer top notch sports entertainment to all people and I encourage hockey fans from all areas of the province to join me in supporting the Rocket organization. We are very proud to have the Rocket as part of our community and what better time to announce this three year agreement than at playoff time......... the most exciting time of the hockey season".
