TBirds U16 Olofsson Commits to CC

Press Release

The Colorado Thunderbirds is pleased to announce that Gustav Olofsson has committed to play college hockey for the Colorado College Tigers of the WCHA starting in either the fall of 2013 or 2014.

Gustav, 1994, is a defenseman for the Colorado Thunderbirds U16 team. He was born in Boras, Sweden and moved to Colorado two years ago. He has been a member of the Thunderbird program the past two seasons playing under Coach Seymour on the U15 team and Coach Smith this past season on the U16 team.

"Gustav has developed into a very special player this season. The scary thing is his potential is unlimited and I truly believe CC felt the same way. He possesses great patience with the puck, his first pass is tape to tape and is a terrific one on one defender. CC is very fortunate to be getting such a terrific student/athlete," said Angelo Ricci, Director of Hockey Operations.

The Thunderbird organization continues to provide an avenue for the elite student-athlete to develop and advance to the highest levels. Gustav is the fifth member of the Thunderbird program to commit to a NCAA Division 1 Hockey program this season. He will be joining current Thunderbird players Christian Heil and Jaccob Slavin at Colorado College while Brad Hawkinson and Tyler Pham have committed to play for the University of Denver.
