Strukoff headed south, signs with Alabama-Huntsville

Press Release

Victoria Grizzlies defenceman Graeme Strukoff has accepted a scholarship to play for the University of Alabam-Hunstville Chargers starting in the 2011-12 season.

Strukoff, a 19-year-old Chilliwack native, is coming off his most productive BCHL season which he split between the Trail Smoke Eaters and the Grizzlies. In 46 games, he scored seven goals and added 17 assists while taking 75 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot, 190-pound blueliner played his first two BCHL seasons with Trail and suited up for 97 games with the Smoke Eaters in all.

With the Chargers, Strukoff will join BCHL grads Keenan Desmet, Justin Cseter, Mac Roy and Alex Allan - the first two of which just finished their sophomore seasons and the last two just finished their freshman campaigns.

The Chargers are an NCAA Division I school but are not affiliated with a conference. As an independent program, their schedule this season included such college hockey powers as Wisconsin, Michigan State, Ohio State, Colorado College and Nebraska-Omaha.
